Author Eve Bunting Dies at Age 94: Author Eve Bunting has died at age 94 in Santa Cruz, CA. Originally from Ireland, she moved to San Francisco in 1960 with her husband and children. She is best known for her picture book Smoky Night (Harcourt), because its illustrator David Diaz received the Caldecott Medal in 1995. Bunting created more than 250 children’s books during her lifetime.
