Jacqueline Woodson Receives 2018 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award: Author Jacqueline Woodson (the current National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature in the United States) was named the Astrid Lindgren Memorial laureate for 2018 on March 27. Woodson has written more than 30 books for young people, including Newbery Honor and National Book Award winner Brown Girl Dreaming (2014). Many of her books involve the African-American experience.
