Vacations Storytime
Recently, we started to offer some storytime themes to go along with “Read Beyond the Beaten Path,” the theme of the 2022 iRead summer reading program: https://www.ireadprogram.org/ focusing on a summer camp at the library. Even if you are not using iReads materials, it is a great theme for summer stories. This month we offer stories about Vacations. Boiger, Alesandra. Max and Marla Are Going on a Trip. Max and his owl Marla go to Australia on vacation.
Brown, Marc. Arthur’s Family Vacation. Rain might ruin their vacation until Arthur figures out fun things they can do.
Dewdney, Anna. Llama Llama Family Vacation. Llama Llama goes on vacation to visit his cousins.
Donaldson, Julia. What the Ladybug Heard at the Zoo. While on vacation, Ladybug visits the zoo.
Falatko, Julie. The Great Indoors. While the human family is away, forest animals stay at the house while on vacation.
Hibbs, Gillian. Tilly’s Staycation. While all her friends are away on vacation, Tilly and her mom find fun things to do at home.
Holub, Joan. Runaway Signs. All of the road signs except Caution go on vacation, and havoc ensues!
Lloyd-Jones, Sally. Goldfish On Vacation. Three goldfish are taken to a fountain in the park for a vacation.
London, Jonathan. Froggy Goes to Hawaii. Froggy is so excited about visiting Hawaii on vacation that he ignores his parents.
Malin, Gray. Be Out Guest! Not Your Ordinary Vacation. Readers meet the staff at the Parker Hotel, including a monkey concierge.
Rabe, Tish. On the First Day of Summer Vacation. Patterned after “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” this story describes what kids do on summer vacation.
