Seals and Sea Lions Storytime
Recently, we started to offer some storytime themes to go along with “Oceans of Possibilities,” the theme of the 2022 Collaborative Summer Library Program: https://www.cslpreads.org/ . Berenstain, Jan. The Berenstain Bears at the Aquarium. The family visits an aquarium and sees lots of ocean life, including seals.
Cowcher, Helen. Antarctica. Animals of the South Pole are featured, including seals, in this factual story.
Halfman, Janet. Good Night, Little Sea Otter. To avoid going to sleep, Little Sea Otter says good night to all of the other ocean creatures.
Hoff, Syd. Sammy the Seal. In this classic easy reader, Sammy leaves the zoo to explore the city.
Hort, Lenny. The Seals on the Bus. In this animal-centered take-off of “Wheels on the Bus,” seals go “errp, errp, errp.”
Marlow, Layn. Noah’s Seal. Noah builds a seal sand castle at the beach.
McGrath, Barbara. Five Flying Penguins. In this rhyming book with counting, penguins play tag with seals.
Seeger, Laura Vaccaro. What If? A guessing game where seals play with a ball on the beach.
Shankman, Ed. The Sea Lion’s Friend. In this rhyming story, a sea lion and a sea gull are friends.
