Mac Barnett Named National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature: The Library of Congress announced the appointment of children’s author Mac Barnett to be the new National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature for 2025-2026. He is the ninth person to hold the title, succeeding author Meg Medina. He has written more than sixty children’s picture books and novels and is a native of Oakland, California. As a youth, Barnett worked at Children’s Fairyland, playing Peter Pan. His theme for his term will be a focus on picture books: “Behold, the Picture Book!
