I Talk Like a River Wins Boston Globe-Horn Book Award: The Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards were announced on June 23, 2021, naming I Talk Like a River by Jordan Scott, illustrated by Sidney Smith (Holiday House) as the picture book winner. Rita Williams-Garcia’s A Sitting in St. James (Quill Tree) won in the Fiction/Poetry Category. Paula Yoo’s From a Whisper to a Rallying Cry: The Killing of Vincent Chin and the Trial that Galvanized the Asian American Movement (Norton) won for nonfiction.

Two Honor books were named in each category:
Picture books – I Am Every Good Thing by Derrick Barnes, illustrated by Gordon C. James (Penguin Random House) and Watercress by Andrea Wang, illustrated by Jason Chin (Holiday House).
Fiction/Poetry – Fighting Words by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley (Penguin Random House) and Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi with Yusef Salaam, illustrated by Omar T. Pasha (Balzer+Bray).
Nonfiction – All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys’ Soccer Team by Christina Soontornvat (Candlewick) and Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre by Carole Boston Weatherford, illustrated by Floyd Cooper (Carolrhoda).
