Author Patricia Reilly Giff Dies:
Two-time Newbery Honor recipient Patricia Reilly Giff died on June 22 at her home at age 86. Before becoming an author, she was a teacher in the New York City school system. She become a reading specialist for schools, and wrote her first book
Today Was a Terrible Day (1980, Viking) at age 40. She wrote more than 100 books, writing both humorous and serious books for a wide age range.
