2024 Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards Announced: The 2024 Boston Globe- Horn Book Awards were announced on June 21, 2024, honoring children’s literature published between June 2023 and May 2024 in the United States. There were winners and honor titles in three categories:
Picture Books – The picture book winner is Sydney Smith for Do You Remember? (Neal Porter/Holiday House). Two picture book honor books were chosen: I’m From by Gary Gray, Jr., illus. by Oge Mora (Balzer+Bray) and Ode to a Bad Day by Chelsea Lin Wallace, illus. by Hyewon Yum (Chronicle).
Fiction – The fiction book winner is Jacqueline Woodson for Remember Us (Nancy Paulsen/Penguin). Two fiction honor books were chosen: The Blood Years by Elana K. Arnold (Balzer+Bray) and Rez Ball by Byron Graves (Heartdrum/HarperCollins).
Nonfiction/Poetry – The nonfiction winner is Nicholas Day for The Mona Lisa Vanishes: A Legendary Painter, a Shocking Heist, and the Birth of Global Celebrity, illus. by Brett Helquist (Random). The poetry winner is Carole Boston Weatherford for Kin: Rooted in Hope, illus. by Jeffery Boston Weatherford (Atheneum). One honor book was chosen: Fungi Grow by Maria Gianferrari, illus. by Diana Sudyka (Beach Lane).
