
Young Adult Library Advocate Michael Cart Dies: Michael Cart, author of Young Adult Literature: From Romance to Realism, Fourth Edition, ALA, 2022, has died. His long career as a librarian includes 15 years as Director of the Beverly Hills Public Library. He retired to become an author and advocate for young adults and their books in libraries. He served as President of YALSA, the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of the American Library Association. He donated his extensive collection of books to the Arne Nixon Center at California State University, Fresno. Many youth services librarians met Michael Cart when he did trainings for Infopeople, ALA, and other organizations where he conveyed his love for Brooks’ Freddy the Pig and other children’s literature classics.
