Months of the Year – Revised
January is a great time to have a storytime about the months of the year. For a craft project, make these paper plate months of the year wheels: Months of the Year Activity They'll Love (and so will you!).

Blackstone, Stella. Skip Through the Seasons. The short rhyme for each month also encourages readers to find items hidden in the illustrations.
Boylan, Frank. The Magic in a Year. A girl and her dog describe the joys of each month.
Cohn, Scotti. One Wolf Howls. Numbers one through twelve and the months of the year are shown in the life cycle of a wolf.
Inkpen, Mick. One Year with Kipper. Kipper the dog describes his activities for each month.
Katz, Karen. Twelve Hats for Lena. Lena decorates a special hat for each month of the year.
Lobel, Anita. One Lighthouse, One Moon. The cat and people who live at a lighthouse describe the days of the week and the months of the year.
Martin, Bill. The Turning of the Year. With a rhyme for each month, this book also highlights the seasons.
Sendak, Maurice. Chicken Soup with Rice: A Book of Months. A rhyming verse celebrates each month of the year.
Takeuchi, Chihiro. All In a Year. In this interactive story, readers are asked questions relating to items in the illustrations.
Van Fleet, Matthew. Oscar the Octopus: A Book About the Months of the Year. In this lift-the-flap book, Oscar catches a different sea creature each month (and lets them go).
