If you or anyone you know is a student, recent graduate, early career librarian, or even just someone interested in children’s literature and librarianship, then the Dorothy Helfeld Fellowship is the opportunity for you!
ACL offers up to four annual membership fellowships in tribute to Dorothy Helfeld, a member and reviewer for the organization from 1992 until her death in 2008. The fellowships in her memory extend Dorothy’s passion for presenting the best in children’s literature to children to those just entering a field which meant so much to her.
We encourage students, colleagues new to the field, or people with interest in children’s literature and librarianship to apply. The fellowship offers rich opportunities for professional development, networking, and mentoring. Tap into an active network of Bay Area children’s librarians who meet monthly to share their passion for children’s literature and library services.
Fellows are expected to make a reasonable effort to attend the monthly ACL meetings and to become regular reviewers for the organization for the duration of their Fellowship. We will pair you with a review mentor.
