A presentation on celebrating family history by Vaunda Nelson, celebrated author. Nelson will focusing on two of her books — Who Will I Be, Lord? and her new book, No Crystal Stair.
You will learn about how African American lives are built and about the fabric of your life.
Vaunda Micheaux Nelson, American author best known for her young adult books, both fiction and non-fiction. She was the winner of the 2010 Coretta Scott King Award and Gelett Burgess Children’s Book Award for her book Bad News for Outlaws: The Remarkable Life of Bass Reeves, Deputy U.S. Marshal. [1]
She is a youth services librarian at the public library in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, where she lives with her husband, and is the grand-niece of brothers Oscar Micheaux, the pioneer filmmaker and Lewis H. Micheaux, the pioneer Harlem bookseller.
