Longtime ACL Member Ruth Hadlock Dies: Librarian Ruth Hadlock died on October 29, 2020 at age 90; she was an ACL member and respected book reviewer. Originally from New York, she was married to noted jazz musician Richard Hadlock who survives her. She worked at the Marin County Day School and Berkeley Public Library, as well as the Kashaya Reservation School. She was an expert in Native American folklore and often reviewed folktales for ACL. Both ACL members David Howd and Penny Peck remember driving her (she didn’t drive) which was a pleasure since she always told great stories about her work. Howd said “I only knew her as this independent brilliant spirit. In her prime, shall I say? But I bet she was always in her prime.”
