ACL Meeting Friday, February 13, 2015: Just a quick reminder for our Bay Area members! Please join us for our ACL Meeting on Friday, February 13, 2015, from 9am-1pm at the Oakland Main Library. We will have our usual Book Reviewing and a discussion of Distinguished Books. Our professional development session involve reports from the ALA Midwinter meeting and ALSC media awards, including the Newbery and Caldecott. “Outlawed: The Naked Truth about Censored Literature for Young People,” is a conference to be held at the Arne Nixon Center, Madden Library, Fresno State University. The dates are April 10-12, 2015. It will feature some of children’s literature’s best and brightest stars. Jacqueline Woodson, Lesléa Newman, Matt de la Peña, Leonard Marcus, Margarita Engle, Michael Cart, plus nearly 35 panel presenters from across the United States and abroad. We will examine censorship in children’s literature from numerous angles. Sherman Alexie will kick off our conference with a presentation the previous evening, April 9th at 7:30 in Fresno.
