Preschool Storytime IdeasFlies With the new year brings time for summer reading planning! Since most of our libraries will be participating in the Catch the Reading Bug theme, I will be doing several bug related themes over the next few months. Of course, you can (and should) expand the theme to include other topics. To me, it naturally lends itself to all types of science and environmental themes, including habitats, recycling, nature, etc. So, to kick it off, let's celebrate a common insect we all have seen - the fly! For a craft activity, how about a fly mask, made with egg cartons for the fly's big eyes. Or, try the cute frog catching a fly with its tongue at http://www.thebestkidsbooksite.com/craftdetails3.cfm?CraftID=840 which is a perfect accompaniment to the song “Five Green and Speckled Frogs.”
