Fish Storytime
Recently, we started to offer some storytime themes to go along with “Oceans of Possibilities,” the theme of the 2022 Collaborative Summer Library Program: https://www.cslpreads.org/ . This month we offer stories on Fish. For an art project, make a simple Paint Splat Fishing Pond: Paint Splat Fishing Pond – Kid Craft (gluedtomycraftsblog.com).

Barner, Bob. Fish Wish. A child daydreams about living under the sea.
Capucilli, Alyssa Satin. The Library Fish. The library cannot open due to a snowstorm, so the library fish figures out how to entertain himself without the usual visitors.
Cole, Lo. Ten In a Hurry. In this brief book featuring counting and colors, fish disappear until the last one figures out how to avoid that catastrophe.
Cousins, Lucy. Little Fish’s Ocean. In this oversized board book, gate-fold flaps show the many fish that live in the ocean.
Ehlert, Lois. Fish Eyes. A rhyming story with counting.
Kalan, Robert. Blue Sea. Fish demonstrate the concept of size.
Lionni, Leo. Swimmy. A little black fish helps other fish disguise themselves from predators.
Reynolds, Aaron. Sea Monkey and Bob. A sea monkey and puffer fish conquer their fears by sticking together.
Wood, Audrey. Ten Little Fish. One by one, ten little fish count down until there is just one.
