Apple Storytime – Revised
From September to May, I arrange my weekly preschool storytime by the alphabet, such as A is for Apple, B is for Bedtime, C is for Cat, etc. If you like this method, here are some ideas for an Apple-themed storytime. Charles, Beth. How to Grow an Apple Pie. Sophie learns she must wait for her apple trees to grow apples.
Chernesky, Felicia S. From Apple Trees to Cider, Please! In this rhyming story, a mother and daughter go apple-picking and see cider being made.
Holub, Joan. Apple Countdown. A class field trip to an apple orchard involves counting in this rhyming story.
Matheson, Christie. Tap the Magic Tree. In this interactive story, readers tap, wiggle, rub, and touch the illustrations to get the tree to produce apples.
Merrick, Gabriel. We Pick Apples. A girl and her father pick apples to sell at the farmers’ market.
Murray, Alison. The Little Green Hen. Hen gets a few animal friends to help tend her apple tree, but not other animals, in this take off on “The Little Red Hen.”
Murray, Alison. Apple Pie ABC. A girl and her puppy bake an apple pie in this alphabet story.
Rueda, Claudia. Hungry Bunny. In this interactive story, readers help the bunny gather apples.
Singer, Marilyn. What’s an Apple? Learn what you can do with an apple in this rhyming story.
