Due to the unexpected library closures related to COVID-19, many libraries are reevaluating how to best serve their communities including how to host virtual programming and support summer reading programs. To offer support in these uncertain times, the ACL Performers’ Showcase has developed a resource to better connect libraries and the community of performers who entertain in libraries every summer.
Performers offering virtual events to Northern California libraries can apply online to be included in ACL’s Virtual Library Performers database.
The annual ACL Performers’ Showcase offers the opportunity to meet and evaluate a variety of children’s performers active in the Bay Area. The 33nd Performers’ Showcase was held February 1, 2020 at the Fremont Main Library.
Performers are eligible to appear in the Showcase if they have not participated in the last 3 years. This gives a larger number of performers a chance to participate in the Showcase, and it gives our audience a different group of performers to enjoy every year. If you last performed in 2017, you are eligible to appear again in the Showcase in 2021.
More information on the 2021 Performers’ Showcase will be available in Fall 2020. Performers interested in participating in the 2021 Performers’ Showcase can review the 2020 Showcase FAQ for more information, including criteria for selection, logistics, and timetables.
Although the 2021 Showcase application is not yet open, interested participants can complete an application to express interest. ACL volunteers will notify interested performers the 2021 application period is open.
