Preschool Storytime Ideas

Masks Storytime

As with the chalk theme, there are not many picture books about masks. But you can create a hands-on craft program for all ages, where participants can make wonderful masks. Kick off the program by reading one or two of the stories listed below:

This month we have the final entries in our series of storytime themes that go along with the “Be Creative @ Your Library” summer reading program for 2009. To me, creativity can be many things, especially anything to do with fine arts or the imagination.

This month, we will celebrate Jazz, Chalk and Masks.





Hru, Dakari. JOSHUA'S MASAI MASK.
Joshua uses an African mask to transform himself, but soon realizes he is perfect the way he is.

Cohen, Miriam. THE REAL-SKIN RUBBER M ONSTER MASK
Jim wants to find a really scary Halloween costume.

Minarik, Else Holmelund. LITTLE BEAR MASKS A MASK
Little Bear scares his forest friends with a mask he made.
