    UPDATED on March 11, 2014 -

Further Information for the 2014 ACL Institute "Your Library is the Common Core: CCSS, STEM/STEAM, and How Libraries Fit in With the New Push Toward Non-fiction"

    LOCATION:
The 2014 ACL Institute will be held at the San Francisco Public Main Library, 100 Larkin Street (at Grove), Lower Level, Koret Auditorium. Because the library does not open until 12pm on Fridays, you will need to enter the building using the GROVE STREET ENTRANCE. Upon entering the building, a staircase on your right will lead you downstairs to the registration table outside the Koret Auditorium - the staircase is just before the security-gated entrance to the library rotunda. The Grove Street entrance has a ramp just inside the inner door that leads to a landing where visitors can use an elevator for access to the Lower Level.

The closest accessible BART station is Civic Center. The library is located next to the Asian Art Museum, and across Civic Center Plaza (open square block with trees down the middle) from City Hall.

Accessible parking is available at Civic Center Plaza Garage (under Civic Center Plaza), 355 McAllister (between Larkin & Polk). Additional parking available at the Performing Arts Garage, 360 Grove Street (between Franklin & Gough).

    LUNCH:
Attendees will be responsible for their own lunch, but the library is located in the Civic Center area of San Francisco which is surrounded by many restaurants. A list of eateries in the area will be available at the Institute.

    OTHER FOOD MATTERS:
Coffee and breakfast snacks will be available in Latino Hispanic Room A (across from the Koret Auditorium) from 8:30 am on. No food and/or drink is allowed in the Koret Auditorium or Childrens Center where the programs will be held. In addition, at the conclusion of the Institute we will be serving pie back in Latino Hispanic Room A, courtesy of National Geographic Books and in observance of Pi Day (March 14th = 3.14).

BOOK SALES: Luan Stauss of Laurel Book Store in Oakland will bring a selection of topical children's books, including copies of Marc Aronson & Marianne Mayors The Griffin and the Dinosaur: How Adrienne Mayor Discovered a Fascinating Link Between Myth and Science. Because this book will be offered to us ahead of its publishing date (April 8th), sales can only be made for this title IN CASH. A book signing will be conducted at the end of the day.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] Thanks for registering, and well see you bright and early on Friday, March 14th!

    Eric Barbus
Vice President, ACL and Chair of Institute
