Reading the World XI -a conference celebrating multicultural literature for children and young adults, March 28, 29, 2009 - University of San Francisco, School of Education.
Keynote speakers are :
The Nye Memorial Children's Literature Tour of the Ukraine.
June 23-July 5, 2009 with add on to Odessa June 23-July 10, 2009. Travel with a group of children's literature enthusiasts to study the culture, the literature, and meet with local authors and illustrators.

NATIONAL BOOK AWARD
National Book Awards: The nominees for the National Book Award, category for young people's literature are:
Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson;
The Underneath by Kathi Appelt;
What I Saw and How I Lied by Judy Blundell;
The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart;
The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Nov. 19 in New York: www.nationalbook.org
AESOP AWARDS
The Aesop Award Committee of the Children's Folklore Section of the American Folklore Society is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 Aesop Award for excellence in children's folklore. One book has been selected as Aesop Award winner this year, and two other titles have been chosen to receive Aesop Accolades:
2008 Aesop Prize:
